Between the Lines: Speak Now Era

Beyond the gossip, into the art of storytelling.

Between the Lines is an independent creative project that reimagines how audiences experience and interpret Taylor Swift's music. Moving beyond celebrity narratives and public speculation, the project shifts the focus toward songwriting, literary symbolism, emotional storytelling, and the artistic decisions hidden within familiar songs.

For the Speak Now era, I developed an immersive, bilingual digital experience that transforms the album's 14 original tracks into a five-act narrative. Each act explores a different stage of finding one's voice, confronting emotions, and reclaiming authorship of one's own story.

Rather than presenting conventional song analyses, the website combines editorial writing with interactive scrollytelling, mouse parallax, and hidden visual details that encourage visitors to explore the deeper layers of each composition.

The visual direction draws from Speak Now's distinctive purple identity, blending mesh gradients, cinematic transitions, expressive typography, and lyric-inspired imagery. Every design element serves a narrative purpose, creating an experience where visual storytelling and literary interpretation work together.

The project brings together:

• Narrative & Editorial Design: Reorganizing the album into five interconnected acts, exploring lyrical themes, metaphors, and emotional progression.

• Interactive Web Experience: Using scrollytelling, parallax effects, and hidden visual elements to transform passive reading into active discovery.

• Visual Identity: Developing an era-inspired design language through typography, symbolic imagery, atmospheric gradients, and cinematic compositions.

• Research & Content Writing: Combining close reading, literary interpretation, and cultural context to present familiar songs from a new perspective.

Originally developed as a Communication Design graduation project, Between the Lines continues as an independent creative exploration of how design can reshape the way we listen to, understand, and connect with music.
